I see so many people who get livid when you bring this up, and act like you've dishonored them by pointing out that their parenting technique can be quite harmful. And so many people will say "But I had that done to me when I was a kid and I turned out fine!" You think hitting children is okay, you're obviously not fine. Fear and pain is not how we should teach children to do what's right.
