This Plus That Equals. Getting Ready For School This plus that equals. getting ready for school Heres the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about getting ready for L starting school. Now he is only three I dont even have to apply for his place until September and he wont start until the following year. Im already thinking about it though. Aargh how can I be thinking about school image credit Go Daddy Stock Photo Increasing his nursery hours According to husb this is as much for him as it is for me. The idea is by adding an extra morning into the mix it wont be such a shock to the system going to school 5 days a week. It should also help him with the separation anxiety he feels. Husb says the same stands true for me. It will be good for me to wean myself off him a bit. I would usually scoff at him being so ridiculous but had you seen the ugly crying over the laptop as I emailed his nursery about the extra time you may agree with him. Toilet training Weve cracked it when it comes to staying dry during the day but he will still have accidents of the messier kind. Youve got ages dont worry I hear you all cry. But Im in the thick of it at the moment and it honestly feels like hell still be like this when he heads off to university. I really want this to be sorted now and am genuinely worried that in 18 months time Ill be in a right pickle with him. I love the little chap my boy is turning into Making the most of him I am now acutely aware that our time together is limited. That when he heads off to school the dynamic will change. So I am trying to soak up every minute of him still be little. Making the most of having full days together. Not just weekends. No homework. No having friends hed rather hang out with! Being firmer with simple things I cant put my socks on mummy. I cant possibly get dressed its too hard. No I am not putting my toys away you are you are a grown up and I am too little. I have heard all these things today alone. I snorted with laughter when he said he couldnt possibly get dressed. Little monster. Usually for speed I would just do these things for him but Im not actually helping him by doing this. He needs to learn and get quicker. There wont be time for him messing about over simple things at school. Plus if he can strip naked in under 3 seconds the he can most certainly put his own socks on. Buying shares in Kleenex I am going to be a mess when he starts school. Im a bit of a mess now and nearly cried at work when I said I could pick up some extra shifts because hed be at nursery more. Sp if I buy some stocks and shares now then I can reap the rewards when their profits spike in September for all the tissues I shall be buying so I can be a tearful snotty mess at home.
